"Overtly commercial information" in The Rule

Is this a 'forum problem'? Could be.

Quoted from diyAudio Rules under Site Announcements:

THE RULES

NOT ALLOWED:

-snip-

11. Posting overtly commercial information or advertising in non-commercial forums.

So, "overtly commercial information" is not allowed, but what is overtly?

According to wiktionary, it's "In an overt manner; publicly; openly".

What if a public post consists of indirect but obvious enough hints of bias in favor of certain products which are associated to the author? That's it, the conflict of interest. Do we need such consideration?

From time to time, or more and more, I feel this site is turning commercial-oriented. (or, was it already and I didn't know?) I don't want to put fingers on certain things. People are watching anyway.

Yeah, I'm just nobody and in no position to influence how it goes. I just feel sad.

As the site is upgraded and developed over the next 2 years, we'll be implementing a few things to try and make commercial affiliations clear, stamp out sock puppets, and both help those seeking non commercial information and commercial information to do so. Right now there is, I think we all agree, too much grey, and I have faith that we'll be able to improve the situation in the future.
