Unless it has the TDA1543A.
BTW, there is a circuit somewhere in the forum that will convert one of the output formats of the CS8412 to offset binary. Strip away the excess logic, pick the right logic family and you have a possible solution.

Can't find the thread your suggesting. But I did find one for converting EIAJ fomat to I2S which brings me to my point. What is EIAJ in relation to the output from the DF1704 (he asks with a grimmace....)

And then with 'proper i2s' format presented to the (each) TDA1541A? am I in business?

As was pointed out on another thread the simultaneous offset binary isn't used for many other DAC's.

I'm still inclined to take the (sensible) route suggested earlier and get out of trouble either with a more modern DAC or Older filter...
(that SAA7220 is looking purty right about now)

thanks for answering what may well have been some pretty dumb ones

now I just need to find me some of those PMD100 (or PMD200) or DF1700 filters, I'm near Hong Kong though and they still have that kind of shop over here

DF1700, at a reasonable price, shouldn't be too hard to find. The PMD100, OTOH, was never easily available at the best of times and will be even more expensive now. Sure you wouldn't rather tackle a little glue logic?
