I have a 100w (it will be push pull) guitar amp I'm working on and need some input on output transformers. It will use a quad of 6L6s in the power section. Right now I have found two likely candidates.
AnTek 100L

Edcor CXPP100-MS-2.2k

I know the Edcor one is good but does anyone have experience using Antek for outputs?
Additionally I haven't set my heart on either of those, if anyone has a better suggestion I'll look it over.
Thanks for the help

Since this is a guitar amplifier why not take a look at the many replacement Marshall and Fender OPT options out there. I'd think a proper guitar OPT would be better in terms of its sound than something intended for HIFI or made by an outfit with not a lot of experience with designing guitar transformers.
The Antek has not gotten a lot of good press, could be just right for guitar, but probably not. High risk IMHO.
YMMV and I have limited experience in this area, so my comments should be taken with a grain of salt. 😀

I have a Fender transformer from one that uses four EL34s I believe. It was replaced but I don't think there is anything wrong with it.
If you are interested I can send you info and if you want it you can make me an offer.

Certainly, I would like to see the specs on it.
As for 'proper vintage', not terribly into that. I would prefer something toward the hi-fi end in order to support drop tunings and my 7 stringers.

Apparently a new one is 112 Eur which translates to about $80 USD.
The primary is 2350 Ohms CT. One secondary is 4, 8, and 16 Ohm tapped. The other secondary is a puzzle; the Fender schematic shows no connection to that winding, Orange and White wires.

I can't give a certain yes no as of yet. I have not started building it yet and cannot commit to it. By no means hold it for me, if it's still around then I'll let you know.
Those were my thoughts as well. I thought I should post first. I was considering using a PT from them (200va for $35 with low leak? So Down.).

I am in no way an expert on guitar amps. I would say that 3.3K is a good load for a quad of 6L6 types. I speak from experience on this but only for Hi Fi. I tried 2.2K with some 807s and the distortion was nice but not what I wanted. You may enjoy this for guitar. Like I said I am no expert. One thing I will say is that you still need a big enough tranny, core saturation sounds bloody awfull and it doesnt do anything any good

Please hook me up with your international exchange guy, asap.
I have some currency transactions to do!😀
Then you have Mercury Magnetics I had replaced old broken opt in a marshall for an friend and he said it sounds much better now an the old one.

Riiight. About $154 in fact.Apparently a new one is 112 Eur which translates to about $80 USD.
The advantage of building a guitar amp is that you generally don't have to worry about frequencies below about 100Hz and above a few kHz. That means you can get away with much cheaper iron than in hifi amps.
I'm sure Mercury is good but at that price range, it stretches the budget a little thin at least for the wattage I need. I'm a little iffy on some guitar transformers because many are replacements for famous or main stream models and those tend be gold diggers.
As for the primary resistance, I'll be delivering 495v to the plates. I went a tad lower rather than higher because I want to be able to swap out the power tubes with other ones and thats a good round about one. I'm not worried about the slight fudge on the numbers, plate resistance tends to shift depending on the tolerance, matching, and age of the tubes anyway.
