I've been told to use a drill to help winding the coil.
But how could I soften that hard wire a bit to make things easier?
Would boiling water do the job?
And what kind of glue/varnish could be used to do the finishing?

No, boiling water will do nothing.

Way to soften copper wire is to make it "recocido" (I think you will understand the Spanish word) meaning you heat it a lot , a few hundred degrees (will check and post actual temperatures later) and you instantly chill it in a water jet.

Easily made at the factory, hard to do at home, and it will burn or damage enamel any way so, you can´t do it at home.

Problem is that drawing copper wire through thinner and thinner nozzles 8trefilado) hardens it a lot.

"Recocido" process makes it soft again, but factories do it only if customer demands (and orders a few Tons of wire).

You better wind it by hand , improvise something like this:
