Hi Zac, keep in mind that the powered versions you found were modified versions of the 151 done by Bose. The 151 was always unpowered, just as the new version, the "151SE"

yes, they were sold by Bose. what I meant was that the powered version was an option that more than doubled the price. They were sold that way as mini monitors for multimedia/broadcast/recording. They were NOT weather proof. There's no way those things would not short out if placed in the rain.
That's why very few powered outdoor speakers are available. Amps, and electronics in general, are just happier indoors.
