I'm not sure if I still have the diagram but it depends on which series of 901's you have. Do the drivers have 3 or 4 screws holding it into the enclosure? The 3 screw are 1 ohm and wired in series. The 4 screw are 8 ohm and are wired in a series/parallel combination to net 8ohms to the amp/reciever. This is a quote from 901fixer and my answer to this is 3screws. still the question remains on how to get to the front speaker.
Yes, they are rated at 0.9 ohm so you wire in series. The worst that could happen is they will be very quiet, in which case you know there not 0.9 ohm and you follow the wiring diagram in post #10 of this thread.
