I have been using an Ipad for too many years and its time for a new one. I use it almost exclusively for internet use. Getting tired of rotten apples behaviour. Never tried anything else. What other brands are a good alternative? Pros and cons? Thanks for the help.
Amazon Fire. I have an ancient one that's used daily by my wife and kids. Amazon doesn't try to obsolete them at all like their competitors, in fact there was a software update for it just last year or so, to work with Prime Video I think.

I’ve been tired of Apple for years, their behaviour changed as soon as they were no longer the underdog. They’ve become what they once despised, monopolistic, greedy, lazy in some cases (software no longer as robust, no longer as simple and uncluttered). Reminds me of a famous book, Animal Farm.
But the ipad is darn good despite the odd issue, same with the iphone, with good quality hardware and sofware so I just suck it up. Competition from Samsung has helped keep the iphone honest. I buy because I want their product, but no longer due to any brand loyalty whatsoever.

A new version of an older computer will always work better, plus the newer OS will be more refined.
Give it a chance first, if only to rule it out. Or you can go to Best Buy, which should also have the iPad,
and several other brands to try. Costco also sells tablets. Samsung tablets seem popular.

Apple products today are much better than they were years ago (having used them since the Mac II), and are
well worth the cost if you need and use them. Never have had a problem with malware, or having to reinstall the
system. Very few quirks ever for me, and I use Macs constantly, mostly a Mac Mini or a MacBook Air these days.

I have to kinda agree with bigun. There macs make only about 10% of there profit. There a phone seller and app and music reseller. And they rip off the people that make the apps and music. And they were almost a monopoly in the music selling dept. for a while, so tell me the musicians had a choice.

We've got 3-4 apple "i" devices in the house and 6-7 Windows machines, plus an occasional Linux and the kid has a Chromebook from his school. My (used) iphone 6 has been rock solid for years and I would buy again.
I hear after all the generations, Microsoft now has a formidable tablet hardware. You could try jumping ship over to them.

I use a Samsung Tablet for my daily activities. When I am out in the yard I use the tablet to connect to my home wifi for catching up on internet news or reading my gmail. I use it via an app to play music on my shop stereo from my Logitech Media Server. I can connect my buds via bluetooth when I walk the dog in the fields and listen to my tunes loaded on the SD card on the tablet. It is a great utility for my needs.
I am in Richmond and if you wish I can loan you one of my Samsung tablets, Galaxy Tab A for a week for you to try out. PM me if you accept. Regards.

If it was quality hardware it wouldnt have a 30% failure rate.
What to do with a broken iPhone screen? There are plenty of options
Any other product that has that high a failure rate from ordinary day to day use is defective, how did apple get away with this? Not only that, they have you brainwashed into believing its your fault and shelling out $200 dollars to fix your brand new $1000 phone is normal.
10 years and 10 billion in research and you think they cant make a screen that doesn't break?

And one more example. My 7 year old mac OS still updates. The only thing its updated in the last 5 years is Itunes. Because it sucks money out of your wallet.
Our family have 4 tablets, iPad, Samsung, Amazon HD10 x2.
Amazon HD is very slow and screen is cheap, but good thing about Amazon tablet is it has a plastic body that is actually very easy to handle. I don't like metal body that feels cold to touch even in summer. Samsung is nothing special, just get iPad. I got Samsung because I needed Android tablet to test an app under development.

I have an older Lenovo "Yoga" tablet, the small one. Great battery life, good screen, well built. I use it every day and always travel with it. The camera sucks, maybe new ones are better.
We've tried some different tablets, have a somewhat aging Lenovo Yoga 10" that's still going strong.
Quite like the format and built-in alu stand which is nice if you want to have it at the table, or when working with something at a bench or in the kitchen.
Only use it for watching stuff or browsing, actual work is delegated to other devices.

Apple sucks but they own this space, going from an ipad to another tablet is likely to disappoint. A totl Samsung would be a jumping point....
