Hi,
I decided to become a headphone enthusiast and bought myself a Polish OTL headphone tube amp called Feliks Espressivo (first version) together with Russian open planar headphones with 40 ohm impedance. Match made in heaven! Maybe not.
Feliks says it is safe to use, but the OTL amp should be used with 100 ohm headphones - or more. The Espressivo MK2 corrected this problem somewhat, but the Mk1 is extra picky. Thankfully the headphones I am using are quite sensitive (100-104dB), but maybe I should add 20-60ohm series resistance to reach the requested 100 ohm headphone impedance?
Or maybe I should just roll with it.
Btw, the name Espressivo sounds like a Tommy Cash song.
EDIT: Quick answer from Feliks:
Yes it will work well, it has high sensitivity >100db so is not hard to drive. Something like Euforia would be perfect but the other models will be also fine (Elise and Echo would be warmer signature).
Regards
