Opinions ?- Transmission Line over Reflex and Acoustic Suspension ?

Terminology aside my interest is what are the advantages and disadvantages of regular tapered TL and MLTL? Also are all MLTLs straight pipe or can a tapered pipe also use the mass loading technique?
My preference is for the tapered transmission line. I think the tapered line does a better job of dampening out higher harmonics than a straight line. TLs do give bass extension over an air suspension design. As I mentioned TLs handle transients better than bass port. They do generate harmonics of the tuning frequency but these can be delt with by locating the driver about 1/3 of the way along the line and using lots of acoustic insulation in the first 1/2 to 2/3 of the line.
To me it’s the clean tight bass response and low distortion that make TLs attractive. Definitely worth the extra effort of designing and building. In a 2 way design TLs also deliver nice clean mid range by damping out unwanted harmonics and internal reflections that can interfere with the sound produced. 2-way, ML-TL (it is all about trade-offs) and an aperiodic midTL.
