on the bass panels, the extra weight is forgivable, and may actually be designed in by Magnepan.
I dont know...i have had about 15pr of maggys come in to my home....i have a pr of MG2.5r here that the bass panels on the 2.5 has No dubbel runs.... an i cant see any glue on the driver... it loos like the wire is just there... it look weard...but some of the best bass ihave got out of any one panel Maggys......I think less on the mylar is the way to go...
But after geting back into the Apogees full ribbons... an geting such great sound...I well just stay with my ESL, Apogees....
I dont think i well be spending any time fooling with Maggy re-wire ...the pans just dont have the sound i am looking for......all i see.... is for the money maggys are a good place for people to start with panels......Hell you can even give the big older maggys a way here...people fear the lose wire even the MMG,1.6s......goodluck

My comment was about strength and longevity and its thickness is as you say.
If you could thin this out someway it might work out superior in the end.
There are laquer based contact adhesives that are quite thin as well.
I wonder if a spray bottle of laquer thinner applied over the whole panel and allowed to soak till evaporation would make for a longer lasting soluton in the end?
