Heya beemer, have you got a photo of the pcb, if you had the polarity correct, its more then likley a regulator chip.

Hey, new member. I've just stripped down a panoview to its component parts. I was wondering if unplugging the small circuit board that controls the backlight tubes will stop the screen from working, by blowing the circuit or something... i'm using the screen with an OHP to make a home-made projector. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry for the late reply, Just unplug the wires going to the circuit board from the backlights that should be sufficient, I havent unplugged the board altoether so I dont know what would happen mine has worked fine like this.
