Hello,
So the twist on this question is... what's the best music player solution for a Pi 1 Model B with a Hifiberry Digi that is so old that Hifiberry seems to have erased all mentions of its existence (and how-to's)... I originally started by looking at Pi MusicBox, but see on this forum that Moode, Volumio and Squeezebox(?) among others seem popular.
I'm thinking that I have to use an old version of one of these that still supports the Pi 1B and 26-pin Hifiberry dac...
Thanks,
clueless

If it is the 512MB version then you can run the current MoOde release.
Provided you're not trying to do resampling or DSP then it should be quite useful.
There is a setting on the main System Configuration page for the USB mode for those older ARM6 Pi you will need to change.

I found the old HiFiBleary Dac site
Soldering the HiFiBerry | HiFiBerry
and it uses the P5 header.... I've used this for other DACs and it worked well...

thanks.
Moode looks pretty nifty.... what if my Pi is only 256MB? What's the latest release that could deal with that?
pcp, lms and squeezelite, huh? that sounds like a lot of work, but I'll take a look at that too!

I may be wrong.... but....
You need to have a Pi1 rev 2.0 with a P5 header to have I2S. Happily, I think that means it's 512MB too. If you've earlier than that, it's USB or audio jack only I think.
It's been a few years though.

@Jerms....
Your memory serves you well !

So the O/P's board would be 512MB

P5: 8-pin (2x4) 2.54 mm header expansion (header not fitted), on the bottom of the board, providing: see Low-level peripherals (Model B Revision 2.0 and Model A boards only)
4 GPIOs at 3.3 V
3.3 V, 5 V and GND supply pins
Second I²C interface (3.3 V) (if pins are reconfigured in software)
I²S interface (if pins are reconfigured in software)
Handshake signals for the UART on the P1 header (if pins are reconfigured in software)

Yay! I didn't realize there were 2 revs of the Pi 1 B.
Now I've just gotta buy a couple more SD cards so I can try these other options out. The guy who I inherited the pi and hifiberry from suggested Pi Musicbox so now I've got a couple options to compare it with.
Thanks, guys!
