Oh 😉 I was running away from this thread 'cos I'm a bad boy . I was referring to a sketch I saw that was a big FBH and a little flare on the front of a Kef B110, not exactly back mounted ...and being more than a 1 meter in height .
The correct word for 'midrangy' is 'presence' 🙄 😛
So ,no scary things ... ( a mid ..back mounted ???😱) and I'm sure I'm gonna keep it in its 2-3 liters enclosure ,mounted as flush as possible with non- incident surfaces nearby .

audax by audax
I have used the driver in an audax 3 way club system many years ago. Used an audax design with a horn tweeter and 13 inch front loaded. Passive crossover at 600 and 6000. still have plans if you need. Was quite smooth sounding. The pr used a tiny ported cabinet. Also Speaker Builder featured an edgar tractix horn which included this driver many years ago. Still have that I believe. Looks like the one in the forum

I had the old PR17 with flat foam surround (rot quick in my area) on a simple 150Hz tractrix horn (mouth = Sd) given to me by Bruce Edgar - only ran it on cd's of acoustic era operatic singers - was nice. Wonder how the newer model would sound in a dedicated Karlson coupler?
Here's a rough pic (panoramic so you can click and drag the pic a bit). More details coming when I can organize the mess. Conical horn
Bass: 35 Hz - 50 Hz : Tuba 18 horn sub (not in pic) - fed by sub-out of preamp . Crossover via plate amp
MidBass:50 Hz - 150 Hz: tapped horn with Pyle PYM1298 12" driver (somewhat similar to THAM 12 but larger). Crossover via MiniDSP
Midrange: 150 Hz - 4KHz and allowed to roll off naturally for now : 150 Hz conical horn with ~ 6 liter rear chamber using audax PR17 . Crossover via MiniDSP. Had to EQ to remove a few bumps in the freq. response, notably at 1KHz
Tweeter: 5 Khz - upwardsTBD : playing around with passively Xovered ribbons, K-tubes, slot loaded tweeters etc

- Opinion: has anyone ever used the Audax PR 17 OMO in a midrange horn?
