In looking through the last few pages of the forums, it seems to me the software packages used are still primarily closed-source, though some very useful ones are free of charge (LTSpice, REW).
Does anyone have a list - or want to start one in this thread - of open-source audio packages in case anyone wants to contribute?

If you are thinking of Speaker Design, Speaker Workshop is now Open Source, I believe on Sound Forge.
Yoy also have Basta, found at tolvan.com which is quite a capable program for loudspeaker design. Not free , but very cheap.
No graphical schematic tool however, and zero optimization.

There are a few open source ones that have lost development steam like gspeakers qloud and kfilter
As for writing software, I'm down. We'll need a more focused goal first though. I personally am most interested in speaker box design software.
