I'm planning on building an inexpensive stereo pair of speakers for my uncle. [He prefers the sound of dipole (Magnepan and Martin-Logan) designs over direct radiating sound.]
Here's the start of my plan:
BG Neo-8 (600 Hz and up;4ohm)
2xPeerless 8" CSX (up to 600Hz;8ohm,90dB each,parallel wired)
Baffle width will be around 10" (Baffle Step freq approx. crossover frequency)
I'm planning on the units to look somewhat like a magnepan.
For a start, there will be a 4 ohm resistor in series to match level (baffle step) of Neo and CSX's.
Any thoughts? Is a 8" CSX OK in an open baffle?
Thanks!
Matt

I calc an approx 450 Hz baffle Step with a 10" baffle -- this assumes a sealed/BR/TL...
with an open baffle for the 8s you will need way more than10".

With it's low Qts you will need to EQ it a lot.
Linkwitz's site is the place to go to explore open baffles.
