Open baffle near field for apartment

I would be interested to hear thought on this project.
My hope is to reduce transmission to my neighbors
Raising the baffle to approx 3ft off the floor should allow for increased cancellation towards my down stairs neighbors.

Still wondering
1 will the whole thing start rocking back a forth once the cone starts moving
2 will vibration to floor joist transmit more or less compared to a frame with rubber feet

1)It should, suspended with a small baffle there is not much to hold it steady front to back.
2) Mechanically transmitted vibrations to the floor should be less with the suspended open baffle compared to typical rubber feet.
That said, if you can hear/feel the low frequency sound, most of the floor and the joists connected to it can also, the % of floor in the cancellation region beneath the speaker is not much compared to the room.

Open baffle bass is a very effective tool for reducing sound transmission into adjoining rooms. Placing the bass speaker on the floor with some big, soft rubber feet will decouple it well and make the apparent baffle larger. You will gain more output and make the assembly more stable if you make it a H baffle.

Another possibility is using some serious mass the OB frame can set upon.

Like 100 lb of paver stone stacked on each side. Or perhaps more decorative, a finished wood box containing 100 lbs of sand that the speaker stand can sit upon.

I once made such a construction out of chimney flue pipe (had the nice terra cotta look) and my mistake was to seal in the sand with cement on top; then I couldnt easily scoop out the sand - they were heavy! Made quite a difference in the sound of the ordinary speakers I set on top.

Those stands said to the speaker cabinet vibration - "Good luck getting past me".

Pretty much 15" open back headphones 🎧

Sounds really great actually, very minimal localization even without DSP yet. The eq is the sub portion of the linkwitz 521 asp.

Almost no floor vibration. The cancelation works well as the bass drops sheer off when I'm not in the seat

I do hear what might be some muddiness or something so I'll see what the measurement look like tomorrow
