Is the OPA658 socketable? It is a 900MHz amp, I think... so would it be ok to socket it if I used gold plated DIP sockets? or would it cause oscillation?
Hi,
a socket may cause oscillation because it increases the parasitic capacitances and inductances, not because the contacts are bad quality... but the exact effect depends on the exact schematic and layout...
With a current feedback opamp, read carefully the datasheet, keep the wiring to inverting input at the shortest possible, DO NOT forget decoupling capacitors !!!! A socket should work, it may only reduce the bandwidth from 900MHz to say 100MHz, that could ruin your high frequencies....
You can use individual "low profile" pin contacts as recommended...
