I thought i could just snip off 2 leds ( R/L channels) from the board, but now i just get a weird noise from speakers.
would like to keep the leds out , but what do i do to get my amp working again.

LEDs could be a part of the audio circuit........

If they were inside the unit and not showing on the front panel, they will have been voltage references for current sources in the amp circuit. If you're lucky, you can put them back and it will work fine again.
