Onkyo receiver loses its settings

Greetings,
I have an Onkyo SR-606 that loses its settings (like audio settings and radio channels) after a few days WHILE being plugged in. I suspect a supercap, but it's strange that it does this at least while being in stand by.
Could it be a bad memory chip?
