Just finished recapping my onkyo m504 amplifier.
I noticed that there are provisions on the main amplifier board for additional output transistors. c
Currently the m504 uses 4 output transistors per channel sanken 2sc3856 and 2sa1492
I would like to add an extra pair of outputs transistors making it a total of 6 outputs per channel.
I looked at the prints for the bigger m508 and both amps use the same amplifier board.
The idling current t is even set the same. I know I have to stuff the board with the extra resistors base resistor, and .47ohm collector and emitter resistors.
So here is my question where to get the sanken outputs and how close do they have to match the ones that are currently in there.
There are sanken transistors on ebay but I'm not sure if they are real.
Anyone have any suggestions

And I ask.
Why ?
What do you think you will gain by adding extra transistors that were only there on a different model ?

I'm not expecting more watts. I drive a pair of infinity QLS1 speakers.
I would simply like the work load distributed over 6 transistors instead of 4

If I had a M504, that was my plan...
I really like their look... But feel more at ease with the top shelf outputs.
and the big SanKen transistors appear in the M509 and M510 amps.

Do you know of a good source for the 2SA1494 2SC3858
I looked at the data sheet and it looks like those will work.
Question I would like to use 2 2sc3858 and 2 2sa1494
so do i have to find 4 that match and not 2 matching pairs because one pair may not match the other. i could match them myself but that can get expensive.

SanKen’s official suppliers online

They’re usually not bad - getting them in rank from same batch helps

SanKen MT-200 package high power transistors :
HiFi power amp - better use 2SA1216/2SC2922 or the best of Sanken 2SA1295/2SC3264, these power transistors sounding very good.
PA power amp - 2SA1494/2SC3858

I have also an M504 amplifier, and recently the servo controler doesn´t click on, so I don´t have any audio output. The speaker connections are OK, and the failure persists even without speakers. The fuses were not blown. In case that the authorized service finds that the transistors are burned, is it convenient to change all 8 pieces? I already have found the SANKEN 2sc3856 and the 2sa1492. Will exist a risk of change in sound quality? One of the best specs of this beauty is a very low distortion. Thank you so much for your comments
