I would like to know is anyone having a schematic to this player or a service manual.
Is this model the same as the DX6850 it looks like it is.
What abaut the DX6870 is that a better model?
I have done some mods, replaced the op amps with AD8066
it is sounding better I think.
I always look to do more, better sound.

What does it use for DACs, one SM5861AP per channel? Then it's quite likely that it would be similar to the 6850/6870 (the latter has a copper-plated chassis and IIRC a somewhat better clock circuit). You may have better luck finding info when searching for the US equivalents DX-706 and DX-708. (My DX-6920 equals a DX-703, and the 6930 was the same as the DX-705, both sharing virtually identical audio circuitry [and the same service manual]. One SM5861AP for both channels. My 6920 is unmodified except for some dampening mats - more for knock-on feel than sound 😉 - and hasn't seen much use since I got myself some decent sound cards, first a Terratec DMX XFire 1024 and now an Aureon 5.1 Sky. It would certainly be interesting to do a shootout between a card like the latter and an older, once higher-end CDP like the DX-6850, modded and unmodded.) It has been suggested to do a completely new audio path, tapping the first opamp after the DAC (which does balanced -> unbalanced conversion), which would circumvent the opamps galore.
BTW, 6850s/6870s are pretty much rock solid except for a somewhat problematic spindle motor.
Oh, I almost forgot: Don't you know any service manual sources over there in .dk? Here in .de, Schaltungsdienst Lange stocks one for the DX-6770.

Onkyo no longer makes high-end CD players (apart from one rather new model that appears to be derived from a DVD player). The top model from that series was the DX-7911, with the DX-7711 not far behind. I don't know whether it's still justified to sink that kind of money into stuff with ca. 1997 converters (SM5864), also keeping in mind these players weren't exceptionally sounding for their price then (probably due to the loads of opamps used, 3 cascaded). It'll certainly be a nice player with good mechanics, but today better converters are available. IMHO the best value today can be found in PC sound cards like the E-MU 1212M (CS4398 DAC) or even the 0404 (AK4395 DAC), which are all the better with opamp mods.
