Attach is a design for a microphone preamplifier. It is transformer in and out. The input is a 2/1 step up the output can be also but will most likely stay as a 1/1.
The gain is adjustable from 10 db to 60 db.
Relays are used for gain switching to reduce stray capacitance.
It is a two stage design with each stage having the same gain so that the second inverting stage will help to cancel the first stage distortion.
It is also a balanced design. That allows greater headroom and more distortion cancellation.
The use of two stage also allows greater PSSR.
The power supply is not shown.

'Same gain' does not mean same distortion; you need same signal level too i.e. no gain in the first stage. That is the snag in many claimed 'distortion cancellation' systems.
