Folks:
Sorry for being such a baby. The problem seems to have been resolved, thought I honestly don't know what I did to correct this very embarrassing and painful experience. No more parts were replaced, but connections were rechecked, every solder joint reheated (cold solder joint?), hexes were cast and babies' blood was spilled. Something worked.
There was no "a-ha" moment. But I do appreciate the advice and patience.
Happy holidays to all.
Regards,
Scott

NEED HELP, Aleph 1.7 PREAMP
HI
I build this aleph 1.7 based on Veteran Boards
For my 2 boards channel, the result was similar
Below of 10uf / 50v [ C1 : 21.4V & C2 : 9.5V ]
Why i cant make it balance (C1 : 15V and C2 : 15V) ?
I change T9 and T7 the result still the same
Please Help me
1. PSU Output : 58V
2. Channel Boards Information :
- All ZTX are 4.7V ( T4, 6, 5 and 7 )
- All IRF 9610 are 4V (T3 & T10 )
- All IRF 610 are 4V (T1, T2, T8) except T9 :9.2V
- D1 & D4 : 3V (ZENER)
- D2 & D3 : 3V (ZENER)
- C11 : 42 V & C9 : 18.4 V
- I check it for Resistor several times
R2, 10 : 3.3K
R1, 9. 26, 27, 28, 30 : 10K
R6, 13, 19, 20, 21, 22, 31, 32, 33, 34 : 221 R
R8, R16, R23, R24 : 100 R
R3, 11 : 22.1K
R7, 15, 25, 29 : 4.7k
R35, 36 : 22.1 R
R4, 5, 12, 14 : 221K

- D1 & D4 : 3V (ZENER)
- D2 & D3 : 3V (ZENER)
These zeners are too low! the 3,7V is close to the threshold where the fets are stopping to conduct.
You would need to change them to 9v1.

I think he meant the D1-D4, D2-D3 on the main board and not the powersupply. No idea why they would read 3V too.
pocoyo, the readings are the voltage difference from point to ground?
You might want to check the soldering of R13, R14, R12, R24, P1, R23.
Might be good to check P1 is ok by shorting it or any resistor less than 2k.
I am guessing that there is a cold solder joint or a short resulting in the imbalance.

zenesh,
The imballance can also be caused by the fact that the 2 fets at both the imput terminals are not fully conducting. The series connection of the two 3V zener to protect the gates, could also prevent proper DC leveling of the gates. If I'm not mistaken, I delivered the fets for this amp anf if the UGS is within 1mV, and the zeners have some spread, a similar imballance will happen as well. As stated the power supply is delivering the expected output, so I presumed the gate protection zeners were refered to.

If it were one channel that might be likely, but two channels with the similar measurements would tend to indicate the problem stems from an assembly error.
trying going over the board again carefully - check component orientation first off. what ever the problem is, it will be same both channels.
Thanks Tarasque, I stand corrected. New things that i am noticing.
spzzzkt. I do not really understand. Care to elaborate?

how often do you see a short or cold solder joint in exactly the same place on two seperate boards? the OP said that both channels have similar measurements and for this to occur the fault will be in same area of both boards. As often happens if you stuff the both channels in parallel the same errors are made on both channels - reversed components, wrong values etc.
For my 2 boards channel, the result was similar
R3 and R11
Hi, thank you for support
Yesterday i saw & measured my friend boards
his boards is already running. The difference is
my R3, 11 : 22.1K and his was 2.83K
Where is the right value of resistor ?

22.1K is correct for R3 but you are measuring in circuit and your measurements will be effected by other components.
In this case 2.83k would mean that S1A is closed so R2 is in parallel with R3, same for R10 and R11. 3.32K//22.1k = 2.88K.
There are three "legal" settings for the input switches (1 = closed/on, 0 = open/off):
1 0 0 1 (factory default)
0 1 1 0 (12db attenuation)
0 0 0 0 (about 6db attenuation)

Now Work Fine
Thank you spzzzzkt
I didnt change the switch yet
when i changed to 0 1 1 0 (12db attenuation)
1 board work fine but the other still unbalance
So i check the IRF 610 who worked in 9.2 V
and when i check with "beep" multimeter
the negative and ground feet are connect.
I replace IRF 610, before then i clean and check
the PCB once more to make sure their OK, after
than the Boards work Fine
Thank you for your support guys
Thank you for Nelson who makes me learn a lot
Cheers

Hi,
does anyone have the Veteran's P1.7 pcb gerbers to make a new set of boards? since these boards can no longer be found, I'm considering making some if I can get the gerbers.
thanks.

trembling sound ... anybody got it ?
hi
is there anybody got these result or can help me fix it ?
my right channel result was best
but the left channel trembling
and when i test with integrated amp
- in first step attenuator left channel sound so big, what happen ?
- first time after i on preamp and play cdp sound so clear
- but after15 second left channel sound was trembling
- is there any active component broken ? what i must change ?
- i got 12v for lcd with cable from psu output, this is wrong ?
please help me

Are any PCB's still available?
I would like a pair of P1.7 PCB's and if possible also a pair of PSU PCB's.
Are any still available or does anyone have leftovers?

Tarasque (Marcel),
Could you please respond to my mail!
I'm having serious trouble with the Aleph 1.7 and APOX
you sold me.
I would like to solve this problem. Again: please respond.

I can help you by providing the documentation you require to put the whole construct together. I can answer specific questions you may have.
However I do not have the time to take your hand and guide you wire by wire to construct this amplifier. you may have to spend some time to educate yourself in electronics and basic understanding as to how the different modules interact.
Excuses if you had a different vision.
