I have a new used Adcom gfa-5500 that has very limited bass on the left channel. Everything else seems fine. no buzz or hums. The left side is warmer to the touch too. I switched the speakers and got the same weak left channel. Then I switched the inputs and the same left channel has weak bass. I'm running JBL L100s and using a Powerbook computer as a MP3 jukebox with Airport. I eliminated the Airport wireless and plugged the Powerbook directly into the 5500 and got the same results. I know there are many power transistors on each channel. Can one or more fail and you get diminished bass? I thought if a power transistor fails the sound stops.
Any ideas?
Thanks

I'd be looking for oscillation or other stability issue, or a bad capacitor in the feedback network. That'll be hard to diagnose without good test equipment.
