Hi fellow DIYers;
since my last Unix Systems Administration Engineer's contract is over, I am back here, full-time.
To get some money on my projects and extra parts I have for sale, I want to create an on-line store.
What basic software would you recommend?
I have both Intel/Linux and Sun/Solaris environment.
It may be Perl or PHP - based.

Wavebourn,
Sorry to hear you are out of work at this time of the year. Hopefully, comes January, you will get a new contract. I am familiar with osCommerce. As the name suggests, it is open source and a fairly mature product. Check it out at osCommerce, Open Source Online Shop E-Commerce Solutions.

I would suggest just using PayPal if you have only a few items. Then you do not have to bother with making a store as Paypal does this for you, pretty much. I've used it for years and find that it is no barrier. Paypal also does my accounting for me. I just download text de-limited files and give them to my accountant.
