Well, at least the left channel, which is fully wired. Now I have to wire the right channel ASAP (amp circuit is already built) and get some of that newfangled stereo sound i've been hearing about.
No hum, no noise, super clean. Can't yet judge the sound (which was a tad bright and light on the bass, I thought) as it is not burnt in yet. Also using it on my $20 cheapo sleaker. Still not sure I buy that "burning in" philosophy yet, btw, but if it means my ICG might sound better later, I'll buy it for now. 🙂
I have one question for the guru's. I have 25v secondaries, which I assumed would be plenty, but I am not getting a lot of volume out of the amp.
Speaker efficiency is unknown, but I suspect it is in the high-80's. Pot is 50k, and I seem to have a lot of play in the volume before it cranks mostly toward the end. Actually a little more useful than the maxed-at-9:00-on-the-dial type volume.
This may end up being fine, as (a) I am not a loud music-type guy and (b) my final speakers are going to be 96db single-driver Fostex DIY's. Maybe it just seems less because I have only one channel set up. I dunno. Just wondering why my output does not seem to track others'.
But It does sound promisingly crisp. Even with this cruddy speaker and no stereo sound, I can tell it isn't total crap. What a relief!

This would be depending on how big is your input signal is, also take into consideration that most of the gc schematics have gain in the 20's.
I personaly prefer to have a GC with a lower gain, and to have a preamplifer with it. But then it goes against the original idea.
my GC is fed through a line driver which is roughly 8volts at 100 ohms output the GC gain stage is reduced and the noise floor is transparent pretty much...I did mute the outputs with a 2 second delay on turn on shunting the amp witha 20 ohm resistive load before contacts are energised

Input is a full line-level signal that does not appear lacking on other amps I have.
I was actually thinking the 25v sec's were going to give me too much power (and heat to dissipate in my smallish sinks) but I am certainly glad I didn't go for less rail voltage.
There may yet be some other reason I am not getting the volume I thought. My internal signal wiring is pretty longish 24awg (CAT5e) as this is a board layout I wanted to have plenty to trim down to whatever shorter runs I make on my final enclosure.
I have run 1-meter IC's made of the same material with no perceptible loss at the line level's in other applications, tho.
Unless I can figure something out, I will wait and see what I get with the shorter internal runs and both channels running at once. I should have the right channel up tomorrow.
