I have build END DAC 2 (very modified) and it really sound "analogue" or more analogue then most of commercial and other DACs I have heard. When people say they are bored or...,
I can only smile, 100 people 100 tastes! I just think that builders should look more on good components used as on other things. Whit carbon film resistors and 6h6p tubes this DAC has a very huge potential to make music sound music!!!!!!

that is nice!
thank you very much!
you can see the price for coment DAC-end board is not cheap!

Hello quanghao,
would you please send IV schematics for 270Volts as you suggested
to use with 6n6p
Greetings Ulf

yes! i show 6h6 is better as: anodt 170V to 180V, iA = 20ma for 1/2 one Tube.
Anad R load use can use 1.5 k to 3 K for one tube (on chanel). so use low R a, use low voltage .
EX; Ra = 1.5 k, +B= (1500 x 0.04 =60v + 170V anod) = 230V.

Hello Quanghao,
sorry i put it wrong,
i meant the schematics of the IV-salas-reg-pcb for b+ of 270Volts

yes! it is ok! but v-in 300V , no larger 300V, heartsick for 840 and 9610 need 20W on board!
270v - it is V-out!
are you OK??
Hi Quanghao, today I have received DAC-End PCB and IV with Salas HV PCB. Thanks.

Can you please tell me what is the value of the I/V resistor coming off the DAC chip?
hi! My friend use Resistor Dale, But it is better use 200-220 Ohm resistor Cadoc!
or better!

Thanks Quanghao! I have 270 Ohm in there and I want to lower it. I'm using Mills wirewound. I was thinking of going to 200 Ohm and I've been reading the lower the better the performance of 1865 chip.
I wouldn't mind lowering the ouput. Have you ever played with values lower than 200 Ohm? Like 121 Ohm?
Also those Texas Component Naked resistors are great. I was thinking of getting some of those unless you think they would be bad ie picking up stray fields in this application.
Hi phrarod!
270 Ohm, I do not like that value.
you can use as low as 80 Ohm for the AD1865, provided the amplifier put out great.
I have tried using such use with output akido 12Ax +6 H6. and sound very good.
you can try!

I going into interstage transformers (Jensen 11P1) then to tube output and have no issues with gain. I measure 2.5V at output and barely crack the gain on the preamp.
Is your recommendation then to go down to 80 Ohm?
This is the Audio Note Kits board but I upgraded it and built one from scratch with better parts especially much better opamps. I'm taking the signal for the interstage right off the I/V resistors.
I'm very interested in your board if it will sound better than the board I have now. I'm using three separate power supplies from Pear Audio for voltage in.
NOS and especially the 1865 dac really sounds more musical than anything I've heard which is why I'm very interested if you perfected a board past what Audio Note has done.
BTW, the original board came with 330 Ohm I/V resistors!!😱
