Hello to you genius DiY’ers out there!
I have a stereo chassis that I pulled from an old Hoffman console and I would like to hear any suggestions that anyone here can give me as to what to do about modifying the speaker connections in the back of the amp.
The old plug is a 4-prong that has wires coming out that connected to the console’s internal speakers. There are also 2 rca jacks (L&R) that are for “external speakers”.
I would like to modify the 4-prongs and change them out for binding posts. I have very little room to work with as the chassis is small and not much space for binding posts but if someone here can point me in the right direction I can possibly fabricate something out of metal that protrudes from and attaches to the chassis to make room for two sets of binding posts. I have included pictures to clarify my situation. Thank you all in advance for your time and input.

Not sure that binding posts are the best choice here, but you can drill out the rivets,
remove the pair of RCA sockets, and mount a pair of binding posts in those two holes.
Remove the other two sockets for the speaker wires and the remote bal, and
(with some washers) you can mount another pair of binding posts there.

It looks like someone has changed those outputs from their original spec, since the stampings for ‘internal’ and ‘external spkrs’ look like they were add later. Is there a tape recorder option?
It is possible to buy RCA Phono plugs with screw connectors. What is the attraction of binding posts?

Old hi-fi magazines (at least in the UK) made a big deal of binding posts as a means of connecting both loudspeaker cable with the lowest resistance & as a means of connecting very thick stranded "cost a fortune " cable .
It depends on your point of view and whether your business is selling this platinum priced cablelundeum for the gentry (and those of taste ) .
Every strand was analyzed with the electron flow judged and "pure "copper came in many exotic varieties but D.Self,s ring mains cable proved nearly as good .
OTOH- DIN sockets made a resurgence over RCA/Phono as it was said that ( with some justification ) that when a Din plug is inserted the two contacts CUT into the metal providing a longer lasting --lower resistance join.
Obviously German engineering here --now whats that German advert shown continually on UK TV about the "superior " German engineering ?
