As I remember correctly, ES9038 (both Pro/Q2M) is not possible to run w/o software control, but 9039 - yes, can be run in hardware mode.

Still in dilemma - should I keep the Parasound PCM63 K-grade and upgrade it with the stuff from Audio-tunning.de + replacing all caps or go for a new EverSolo Z8. I shall be streaming to it from a Wiim Pro.
