Hi,
I'm from Europe and i wanna buy a 3m 9700 ohp but they are quite expensive over here.
So i thought i buy one off American ebay.
The problem is American current is 110 v and european current is 220 v.
I dont know **** about electronics but i know there are these convertors that you can hook up which will convert an 110v to 220 v
will this work with an ohp?
best wishes,
Robert

It Could work.
Here in the UK you can get travel plugs that allow
you to use uk electrical equipment away in the states etc.
You will need to do the following to ensure SAFE operation
1) find out the current the the OHP will draw eg standard sockets
here in the uk are rated at 13 A (Amps)
2) find the wattage of the OHP (all this info should be printed on a
label on the OHP, or in documentation).
3) find out the max ampage and wattage for the converter.
Remember, you don't want the converter to be working at max,
so ensuer that the converter is MORE than up to the job.
If the converter rating is less than the OHP then it is not suitable to use.
(At best it will blow a fuse, at worst it could cause a fire, If in doubt ask a qualified electrican.)
hope this helps

Generally no it won't work
Most goods made for USA market are pure 110v and will NOT work on 220v. You will burn it out straight away but you can get 220 to 110 volt transfomers which for an OHP would be costly and bulky.
Goods such as hairdriers and toaster and things like that.
My 3m OHP is rated 240v and came from a local shop in New Zealand with the correct power plug already fitted
Only way to tell for sure, if not stated, is email the seller.

Hi Robert,
I 'm also from the netherlands and I bought my 3M here in holland. Just check out marktplaats.nl and more of such sites. You might be able to get one for about <100 euro. Maybe on ebay they are much cheaper, but don't forget the weight of a OHP and what the shippingcosts will be.
Good luck

ook nie vergeten dat een 110 volt lampje niet makkelijk te vinden is in kaaskoppenland! En bestellen via het web en dan laten opsturen vanuit de US lijkt me serieus gokken.
I think it's a gamble to have it shipped all the way fom the US
so many things can break .....
