hey guys! as some of you may know i have successfuly retrofited my Apollo AI-1000 with a 250w HQI system 🙂
i recently bought an INFOCUS 410P or AKA Dukane 4000, I payed 15 for this baby 🙂 it has a trplet lens and its fresnel is 16 inches diagonal
WAY bigger than my apollo's. But the stage covers most of the area..🙁 i will have to dremel it, oh yeha this thing has no stage glass and since my HQI is reflected off a mirrir the LCD doesnt even get warm lol, oh BTW im using PROTO's NEC 1545 which is AMAZING!!!! PROTO is a master craftsmen the way he put this baby together and contrsucted it is frikkin great thanks PROTO j00 da man!😎
ok i removed the FXL double holders i cut it..and surprisingly it STILL worked fine, it was a bit hard removing the screws it took me a while...but after that then its smooth ride all the way.this OHP was actually EASIER than my Apollo i iddnt have to unscrew any fan all i did was cut the FXL holders remove them and place the HQIs arc to the FXL hole and i polished the metal thingy behind it to act to a reflector.i would DEFINITELY say this OHP is better than the Apollo the fan is quiet and sounds nice the light leakage is very low and its black design is a plus 🙂 larger fresnel cooler...triplet...i think im going to sell my apollo now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3428885476&category=25322&rd=1

echo....echo.....what echo? 🙂
well obviously didnt do it on purpose 🙁 my crappy 56K stopped loading and i refreshed page...
but i email multiplexor to remove it....i dont know if he will...since hes rarely here anymore...oh well..
well yes i converted it to HQI but i wouldnt call it a success YET...there stil alot that needs to be done...if i add a reflector this thing will REALLY shine 🙂 plsu this OHP has to be at a special angle to get best picture... i think this is due to the large LCD size...ims till working on it ...yeah the HQI is a success 🙂
thx

Negative-
Glad to hear the panel arrived OK and you like it!!
Sold the Elmo yesterday.
With the $$$ from the sold parts taken into consideration I got the X1 for about $500. Not too bad.
Good luck with the new setup- I'm waiting to see some screenshots.

PROJECT UPDATE..
ok...well the Dukane/Infocus OHP isnt as good as i thought...the keystone is CRAP the OHP HAS to be on the same level as the screen to appear straight...if not then the image will look more on the triangualr side...as for the apollo ...the NEC wont fit on it thanks to the positioning of the OHPs arm , if i place it anyways i lose more than 40% of the screen not counting left and right edges..
Apollo has great keystone...but it wont fit....dukane has BAD keystoning bit it fits nearly perfectly...
plus i have a PROXIMA Ovation 846(BRAND NEW!!) and i have no power supply for it....am i lucky for wat? 🙁 lol
now my goal is to get an enlosure that fits the NEC or buy a cheap/broken Elmo SD(any one selling one?) i dont plan on using any HMI bulbs i plan to find an OHP that can fit this NEC so i can retrofit it...most ppl who have NECs have ELMOs so im leaning towards it...
ok well thats my update....

Re: PROJECT UPDATE..
I say "To heck with the mast on the OHP. I took mine off. Partially because it was in the way of my panel, mostly because it was really crappy at focusing my projection.
I built my own "mast" that I think gives me a lot more options, is totally out of the way of the panel and connections, allows me a lot of focus options, and even helps to kill off a lot more light leak than I expected it to.
Attached is a very crude SIDE drawing of what I did. The yellow square is a 2x4 frame that I built. The brown thing behind it is my OHP body, and the gray thing is the panel.
On the top, you'll see two bolts that go through a piece of scrap sheetrock. That's what the lens sits on. There's a 2x4 frame on either side of the OHP, and by building it in a square frame like that, I gave myself extra stability, and made it easy to get access to all the connections on the sides of the panel
I have taken pictures of all this with my craptastic digital camera, but I can't find the software for it, and the driver I found online just almost works, except for that pesky "can't find the camera" error.

Forum told me to "search"
It wouldn't let me post this to the main forum and this is the closest topic I have seen.
Found this link with good schematics, manuals, plans, assembly etc. Enough info to build an OHP from scratch.

Also some interesting info in this DIR:

Hope that is of some use to some people.
