I am using an Apollo II 3672 600W Overhead Projector and will be soon purchasing an Nview Spectra C LCD panel. The OHP is WAY too loud. Can I replace it with a 120mm computer case fan?
Should work fine. Might melt a bit from all the heat though.. 😎
Alternately you could try just oiling the fan that is already in there. But not sure how much that would do, those things are really noisy (I have an AI-1000, same bulb etc.)

I think the one in there is about 120mm. And the newer fan probably cools more too, so it should be fine. The only thing to worry about is the lamp overheating in the OHP, as other fans will be needed to cool the LCD. So the worst case scenario is that you burn out a $5 bulb from too much heat. But that probably wont happen.
I'm using a projection panel with its own fans anyway... so that should be sufficiently cool. Seeing as those fans are loud enough anyway, I didn't want to add to the noise. I'll give it a shot - thanks.
Just need to wait for my Projection Panel.
