I am studying up to build a LCD projector, and am leaning towards doing an in-line setup. (see below)

I was thinking of trying to find a old projector that doesnt work anymore (preferrably Dukane because I hear they use triplet lenses, which are significantly better, right?).
I am thinking about trying to take apart the projector and using the fresnel and condenser lenses from it for the lenses in my build. The reason for this is partially financial and partially practical. It seems like it would get rid of any possibilities of incompatibility between lenses and give me an idea of how far apart I want them. I would think that the fresnel might be big enough to actually take a 17" monitor when put sideways, anyone know? Thats not a big deal because I will probably go with a 15" for financial reasons. 17" is so tempting though because of native resolution 720p HD. 😀
Anyways, anyone ever tried this? Or know if it would be possible?
