Oh ya, it sure is nice to have friends who give you old Tube amps they find! Just got another one from a bud (just normal stuff, nothing like old Mac's or Dyna's)...sure it's old and dusty but hey, it sure is fun restoring something back to it's former glory!
Love to hear from anyone with similar stories!

I once almost started to believe in Santa when I got the phone number of the guy who was responsible for props at a Swedish cinema operator. He told me they were closing down a theater in the south of Sweden and that I was welcome.
4 KlangFilm mono-block amps from 1953 (oh so sweet sounding after refurb.)
12 Altec Lansing 15" woofers
4 Nice midrange horns
4 ElectroVoice 350 tweeters
Assorted drivers in various states

Fedgrove
Fedgrove long time no talk. To be honest, I have no idea what this amp is. It looks to be something from the mid/late 60's. Small amp (haven't looked to even see what it has for tubes), 2 channel type of thing, little power transformer, small output transformers etc. Could have came out of a console or juke box. Doesn't matter to me really, just like playing/learning with this stuff. And who knows, it could find it's way into "a freind in need" thing or a backup for the backup amplifier :>)
So, what have you found in your travells?

FINDS.
Hi Rino,
It has been a while indeed.
Never was so lucky as to actually find tubegear.
And the odds are against that too, more and more people are aware of the value of these old beauties.
I am sure you'll find a good home for your amp.
What happened to me once though is that I was actually given an unused RCA tube manual from the late sixties.
By a sales clerk of an electronics business I was visiting in Sao Paolo, imagine that.
That book was a great help and still serves me till this day. 🙂
See you around,😉

Hey, free is the best thing. Even better if it's something that can be used for knowledge or referance!
Can't wait for the weekend, starting on this amp restoration...hopefully! Have to finnish this "funk box" guitar pedal first. Cool little project, found it on the net and couldn't resist. And hey, anything that can help mask my short comings as a guitar player is ok in my books!

I have a name for those kinds of amps -- Pheonix -- as in risen from the dead. A Frugal-phile's(tm) delight.
I have a whack of these i have collected in my role as vintage hifi recycler. Mostly EL84, ECL82, ECL86, 50EH5, 50C5, and 6V6. I hope to actually get some of these making music over the winter.

Re: NICE COLLECTION
With the house effectively only 3 rooms (acoustically), i'll have to multi-amp (be nice to have 6 mono-blocs for the mains), and pass along a few to friends.

Re: MOVING?
I am actually slowly working on selling everything ... the house is on 4 acres, up a mountain, in one of the most beautiful parts of the worls. Been here 23 years, no mortgage, no rent, so i'm not likely to move anytime soon. The house is of my own design. A collection of friends & I, but to a large extent, my Dad built it.
Except for the Dyna FM3, the rest are all recievers. Heavily dominated by Normendes, and other german units. Normende's are always a real score because the consoles come with Isophon speakers which give good return.
