So it's defintly a family Afair à la Sly & family Stones
Death Stars are always bigger but the ideas ! Still the best cash machine (why changing a good receipe ?) !
The black dies at the end killed by a cope which is black too (always the dark side is dying at the end)
Chewie is still the best actor
Skywalker is fed up with the sand (...so bought an Island)
Disney teams don't know how to write a good story those days and putted all the épisodes in a mixer then made action painting !
It was made cheaper for being transcrived in video-game as a main goal ! The next will be a cartoon !
Did I forgett Something ???
(unluckilly it's not the return of the good Cinema...)
( best SW ever made is the Revenge of the Sith about graphic/cinematic/rythm ?)

Here is Cantina Band #1 and Cantina Band #2 Music by John Williams ? I am sure about #1 but not #2. Swinging jazz ?
I have not seen latest episodes of Star Wars movies. But I have good memories of the first Star Wars movie. It was in early 80s if I remember. My dad with me, my sister and mom travelled to Bombay, to watch it. Death Star, Millennium Falcon, X-Wing Fighter, Light speed jump. All were so freshly imaginative and creative. I like George Lucas and John Williams. Very talented creative people. The legacy is the proof.
Regards.

Exactly the same feeling I have. You must see the last as well... the pleasure stays genuine to see a Star Wars !
...but you will see it's not made by G Lucas anymore : quality is lower. special effects are not so good : spatial scènes, insides. It's full of good ideas and in the same time it is too much similar with a lack of novelties and is poorer like if it was the return of the Jedi: it's a clone war between before and after G Lucas ! According to me the episode before was the best made ever !
Thanks for the links, the 1977 firdt one was my best cinema souvenir ever !

Sorry Eldam, can't quite agree with all that - I just caught this in 3D last night and am perhaps still a bit buzzed. I think old George ran out of creative steam a while back, and was quite happy to take the $4B in cash and Disney stock options. The new team of Abrams and Kennedy rather knocked this one out of the park - and it looks like the next in the series (mark your calendar for May 2017, kiddies) will have yet another director at the helm.
Oh, and as for the special effects being "not so good" , please elucidate and enlighten us
Finn isn't gone for sure, but too bad about Luke's brother in law

Hi Chris,
First of all : read all my writtings as an exageration (often) and a little bit of provocation : I'm often in the second degree 😉 (most of the time, are there not such more important problems in life than audio and our basic (as not important) needs in this forum ?
Being said, ok, let's talk now 🙂
Seriously for me it was maybe the worst but I'm a fan so I'm a little hard here and can not have an objective opinon. It's just a feeling, but I was going out of the Cinema a little bit sad and disappointed. I went to **** (pipi in the toilett) in the middle without regrets as I was beginning to have annoying time (which is rare in a SW movie !)
It was clear to me than this mixed concepts of old épisodes & action painting episode was a recall for younger générations, so new paradigms could be introduced ! For example a jedi has not to train anymore to survive at his first sword combat ?! Or the borring too much eyes blinks of old épisodes : the most horrible : an other bigger death star yet ! pfffff ?! Have they no imagination ? Seing all the good US cartoons, most of the time they have, but here they haven't according to me !
I didn't like how it was filmed as a classic action movie like an assault of GIs to make it more real (like the first scene e.g.) : we never needed that to be involved in Lucas movies ! It's even the opposite : the distance and strange scènes of the old SW movies like the irrational ballets in sword combats or the laser guns not holded like actual policeman movies added to be in an other "good" atmosphere (not real) in th oldest episodes.
So this Disney is filmed like a Ridley Scott ! Notice I love R. Scott movies but I'm not waiting to be involved in a SW like the Black Hawk Down movie... Look at the scènes in the snow : it's a little n'importe quoi, no ?
Ah ok, Finn is not dead, I was fearing to be in Chicago or South of the US yet ! I liked a lot how he played to be astonishined in his armor in the beginning : for me and like some writted, it's like a Charlie Chaplin or mime Marceau perf : it was good !
When I compare the scènes of space combats I liked much the older épisodes, especially the last before the one we are talking about ! There are too much scènes shooted closely to involve the watchers in the action, but it was the opposite for me : all the flying scènes were bad but the one with the Falcon in the desert which was as good as the others flying scènes were bad !
The main actress is very pretty but has Something a litttle childy in most of the scenes, not at all like were princess Leia or her mother N. Portmann which were able to drama. Here even in the last scene, I'm not convinced ! For me it was made for children ! I have not the same feeling relooking the older épisodes.
Yes I was sad for the brother in law, we are all gonna die, I get feeling very old at the end of the movie, as if 40 years passed in a spark when I remembered the first episode I saw at eight ! Notice it's a family affair... big one, made now for Facebook generation : you need it to remmenber who are who or who you are yourself ? Is he a friend ? He is still in my friends darkside team ? Did I make love with her already, was I drunked, etc, etc !
But hey like in the Walking Deads maybe he will resuscitate because the fans don't agree (though he is getting old and rescue himself from a plane crash in real life !).
(I'm a fan for the second degree of it, I'm always thinking that such a TV can only be made by americans as a riffle association advertising : shoot first , think after ! Also because this is an anti Facebook movie : at the end you have lesser and lesser friends ! "Did I putt you on my Facebook...heu no matter, I risk to no recognize you later!" lol)
Notice than I will Watch all the new épisodes to come as my brain is completly toasted like bread and the lighted side of it became a souvenir ! (if it has ever existed 😀 !)

OK, I understood about 10% of that 😀
I enjoyed this particular 2 12/hrs more than the Ridley Scott monstrosity that was Prometheus, while his "the Martian" was certainly understated and reasonably well received.
Further than that, if I was interested enough to study the minutia and history of the cinematic craft over the past 50+yrs I've been watching, I'd love to continue a good humored debate - but it's clear I'd be outgunned, so cheers. and see you at the movies.

Often the fans have a harder point of view.... I'm disappointed certainly because I saw those non interesting details. In disapointed I mean I liked it less than the others (very less). the passage between Lucas and Disney is visible imho and not for the best.
It was like if you didn't eat for 10 years and at the end of the road the restaurant you find is cooking only belgian endives ! Well the force was they are very good with the marketing, even better than the ones before : chapeau bas, a moment I have been believing endives were fries !
Further than that I can understand only my dog laughs to my humored analyses, he is on the dark side of the jokes ! We often see the excelent Robot Chicken Star Wars together ! 😀
Seriously, the best film I saw this year is a sweedisch one : "by order of disapearence" (Kraftidioten is the original title),remind me a little the atmosphere of some Takeshi Kitano's movies !
Have a good newyear eve 🙂 , let have also a thought for the deaths of this last year 🙁...
