This guy is either crazy or a genius! But he now lost his job @ Verizon. Now large companies outsource offshore, and it's okay. How about the individuals? Is it okay? Or is it a punishable offense? Perhaps it's merely capitalism?

In the UK there is a legal distinction between a contract of service (i.e. employment) and a contract for services (e.g. business to business). The former requires the individual to personally carry out reasonable instructions from his employer, and places obligations on both parties. The latter is more a matter of whatever it says in the contract, so in many cases the contractor is free to sub-contract all or part of the work. Other countries may differ.
