Ok so i was given this sub box my brother had and i'm not sure what kind of box this is. Its like a Janis or a bandpass but reversed. The face of the sub is sealed and the rear has a port. It says Hot Box on one side and has a 8" Rockford Fosgate P1 Punch sub. Anyone ever seen something like this?

Then it is a 4th order bandpass. The woofer orientation does not matter in this classification. It probably is tuned for in-car use.The face of the sub is sealed and the rear has a port.
Ahhh I saw how the 4th order bandpass was set up doing some reading but I didnt know orientation didnt matter! Thank you!
Thanks thats sweet! How good are these types of setup? I also have a 12 inch 150rms Kicker from a previous setup. I dont have a box for it, but Im going back and forth between using this punch over the 12. This 8" has higher rms rating than the 12 I have and its already together. Im not trying to blast my ears out, mostly for quality and some feel of the bass. I bought a used honda for a commuting car due to my job being moved and im not driving my 650 hp challenger every day to work after it moves 45 miles away. So i upgraded the sound system with a 4 channel amp and of course id like a sub setup in it as well. But yes this stuff is older, but it still works, and its free and paid for.
It depends on what you are after and how the box is tuned. In general, a 4th order bandpass trades in some output capability (compared to a 6th order bandpass or vented box) for a tighter bass. How good are these types of setup?
If you do not want to blast it, you can ignore the power rating. It only tells something about how much the system can be turned up, before the woofer suffers damage.

hotbox
hot box was the company they were sold at circuitcity until MTX started bitching that nobody was buy there boxes so they copied the hotbox but used a round port and it sucked ***. but circuitcity stopped selling hotbox anyway and cuz there contract was exclusive to CC they couldnt sell threw any other outlets the went out of business in 96 i think. i had a 12in hotbox i ran isobaric with 2 JBL GT 12's face to face. i still have my 8in one with 2 ma audio 8's as my nightstand. that s why that box is so cool you can open both ends so it was easy to clam shell 2 subs in 1 box using the stock mounting face as the separator. dude try running it with 2 subs in it it bangs just remember the sub in the sealed side has to be wired reverse polarity so 1 pushes and 1 pulls.

I had one and been looking for one for a long time I had two 12 in Orion XTR in it isobaric. And it hit so hard with a Phoenix Gold amp. My steering wheel fell off. Do you want to sell. I would like to have one for 12 in.
Funny. My mind went immediately to the G&S ones. I had no idea there was another company using the same name. I guess no one bothered to register the trademark?
