Octal sockets are very confusing to me. Using Eagle Cad with a few custom lib's My first socket was a Belton in the large footprint chassis mount, had a PCB made worked OK. Then I wanted a more generic Octal like the cheap Chinese and eBay ones for PCB mount. I grabbed a footprint from a recommended lib on this forum. Well the footprint did not match the socket, the socket was from Amazon and seemed to the "norm" at this point I didn't know whether to look for a different socket to fit, or have the PCB redone to use the sockets I have. So I found a third footprint of Octal s that looks like it will fin my PCB. I guess my question is How the heck many different sockets are there for Octal s and what is considered the norm for PC mount?

Yes, I am pretty sure those are the same sockets I have. From the mid line of the hole in the socket to the tip of the outside pin is 12~mm. The eagle footprint I found, I think it was from 4tube lovers lib file is too small to fit. Stick to Belton, those are more expensive but worth it in the long run. They have mechanical stress relief and the Belton supplied eagle Libs are good.
CMC is also a good brand of sockets, but those suffer from the "Death Grip" on the pins. I made some footprints for those as well some time ago.

I cant find a Belton in the PCB mount format, only the ones with the chassis mount hardware around them. Any chance someone could measure from the center hole of the socket to the outside pin of a generic octal . My sockets measure 12.57mm . The hole pattern I have for eagle measures 9.67 It seems the generic 8-pin socket is 12.57 but I maybe mistaken.Stick to Belton, those are more expensive but worth it in the long run. The difference is Belton socket's legs are same distance as tube pin with d=17.2 or 8.5 from centre. The socket leg for GZC8-Y is bent out with wider distance of d=26.5 or r=13.25 from centre. See attached.

Remember that Octal was about obsolete and forgotten when PCB construction was just getting common. I remember 7-pin PCB radios at the very tail end of tube days, but not an Octal on PCB until a decade+ later when labor costs drove guitar-amps to PCBs. Hand-wired sockets don't need any special pin-placing. In chassis-mount you do want to know where/size your three holes go, but there's less choice, and may be easier to make-do on the production line. (Radios and amplifiers don't generally do gang-punching like car engines do gang-drilling. The Ford 1962 engine has its cylinders spaced the same as the 1932 engine b/c Ford used the same 4-drill machinery and couldn't move the centers.)
