Nuub - Using REW for speaker design...

Hi all

Goal is to design an improved passive crossover for my year 2000 first ever speaker build (LMR-200). The original xover was poor but I love the bass response of these bookshelves. See https://1drv.ms/f/s!AgmKo7c0CB2xjC663paKOc3Rk54S for a chuckle.

My key tools of choice (so far) are:

Vituix - Software
Focusrite 2i2 2nd Gen USB Sound card - Scarlett 2i2 | Focusrite
Mic - Sonarworks XREF20 (with cal file) - Measurement Microphone for Recording Studios – Online store
REW - REW - Room EQ Wizard Room Acoustics Software
0.1% 100R resistor for Impedance measurement - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/METAL-FILM-RESISTOR-100-OHM-500mW-0-1-NWK-PN-CMF55100R00BHEK/352179961619
Boom Mic Stand - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00NW7MT5C/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Manual rotation plate - 300mm 360° Degrees Rotating Platform Display Stand Kitchen Ornament Speaker
Full protractor - https://1drv.ms/w/s!AgmKo7c0CB2xjCMKrWdczIqe3y21
Appropriate leads

This will form a semi-dual loopback connection for accurate timing.

I've read lots and have had some kind guidance from Vituix Kimmosaunisto, but don't want to bug his thread any further. A massive thank you to him.

I'm looking for a little guidance into the overall process (actually this was quite handy for us nuubs Loudspeaker measurements) and getting impulse responses from REW suitable for Vituix import.

A mix of various sites reveals the general process and the excellent Vituix docs reveals step by step use of ARTA, but it's all in the measurement as they say and I'm hoping to avoid any pitfalls with REW (and the overall process), hence asking here.

If you know of a good simple guide I could follow, or have your own experience and advice that would be really welcomed.

Big cheers
Lea

Quick update, room measurement of the current speakers at 1m, interestingly no where near as bad as I thought...

Must be my 'golden' ears...NOT!

Plenty of room for improvement, but I knew I always favoured deep bass! And now I can see it 🙂

Interestingly though - I'm very aware of a 'screeching' point, probably somewhere in the XO range....I wonder if the power/phase has to do with this....?
