NP Slot Loaded Open Baffle article question

Hi:
In that article it is mentioned that the xover filters are 2-pole, does that mean they are second order?

And why specifically the LP xover is set at 80 hz and the HP at 160 hz?

I see that they compliment each other at the end, but why? Thanks!

2 pole is second order.

The offset for LP and HP is largely due to the woofer's rising response with
frequency in this range and the FR's declining response as it goes down.

Acoustically, this setting gives a 160 Hz crossover when you look at the
output of the drivers.
