What I found interesting is that you can buy Germanium transistors and its the same stuff used for when you want to make your own transistor at home. Watch the video.

Reminds me of when I was in high school. There was a kit, I recall
supplied by Bell Labs, where you could make your own Germanium

That's right 🙂 Most home brewers actually use Germanium diodes now. I did actually at one point (still do) have the idea of making a few hundreds (matched) and make an amplifier - I guess it would be similar to your Best of Thousand JFETs - Crazy project.. yep, something I would do only once... yep, you bet ya... LOL
