novice question - finding a part for broken nad cd/dvd

i have a nad t562 dvd/cd player that has for about 6 years refused to open its draw... as it cost me a bloody fortune when i bought it new i am not particuly inclined just to put it in the bin (despite the very annoying crunching noise it makes whilst trying to open)... im also pretty certain it sounded really good!

i have opened it and managed to remove the offending part which is a "panasonic DL1-DU5". i cant imagine for one minute that this was made specifically for nad so can anyone tell me if there is another dvd/cd player that i might pick up cheaply to butcher so as i could fix this NAD?
alternativly has anyone got this particular spare bit they could let me buy off them? (im in the UK)
its the whole laser-mech-draw-thing bit i need...

please excuse my complete lack of knowledge even down to the name of the bit im trying to replace.. i know little of what im doing but as it was so easy to remove this "DL1-DU5" (a few screws and 2 ribbon conections) i thought i would have a crack at fixing it!

Cheers
Hamish

NAD T562 - Dropouts only by burned Video DVD-R

I have get this model from a customer.
I observe correct operating by MP-3, CD, CD-R and pressed (not burned) video-DVD.
Only burned video-DVD creates dropouts (one - three seconds) by screen and sound. While this time sound is death and screen shows a image (freeze frame).

Sometime there is a crash to observe and no longer operating instructions will be accept. After switch-off the main switch and switch-on of the device all this repeats again.

The question is, what is the reason therefore.

Are there guys whith similar effects by their DVD player?
