The first two BR-1 bookshelf speakers are almost complete, just some sanding and finishing to do. The next two are in clamps and should be done tomorrow as well. I still need to mill up some edge banding for the other 4 speakers so they may not be done this week.
I did finish running all the wiring in what will be the home cinema room. I actually added enough for 9.3.4 and bought some ceiling speakers for Atmos. I will be building at least two subwoofers next year, probably the vbss design but with a nice wood finish. I actually have an idea for something pretty interesting, but I need to get everything else done first.

I'm going with Danish Oil with a walnut tint to accentuate the colour. I tested it a scrap and it looks really nice. The walnut I have is not consistent across all the speakers, so the tint should even them out a bit. I will use clear finish, probably shellac on the zebra wood and may go over the walnut as well to give it a bit more protection.Looking great! What finish do you plan on using for the Walnut?
I have three speakers finished and I'm delighted with how they look and sound.
I filled the grooves with coloured epoxy which gives a nice clean separation between the woods but also perfectly seals the seams.
I spent a lot of time sanding, going through the grits to 220 with my random orbit sander and then hand sanding to 320.
I applied Danish Oil with a walnut tint to the walnut panels and then clear shellac over everything.
I don't have my AVR amp yet so could only use a little amp I picked up from Amazon to test them, but they really did sound great. Surprisingly good bass from such small boxes and no sign of any distortion at the volumes I was trying.

Not much to update here as I have still not finished the final four speakers having been concentrating on the room renovation instead.
I have completed the wainscoting and panelling on the ceiling as well as painting and carpeting. I built a small wall and doorway to close off the final corner of the room. The fire place and mantel is almost complete and I have some trim work around windows and a few other small details to finish.
I have built some stands though out of solid oak and walnut. They are about two feet tall at the front and three feet for the surrounds. They are nice and heavy with two inch thick bottom plinths and have hole through the center for cable management. I will add some spikes to go through the carpet to the concrete pad just for stability and rubber feet under the speakers for some isolation.
I changed my plans for 9.1 to go with an Atmos set up, so I added four speakers in the ceiling and am currently running 5.1.4. I have run cable for nine speakers, but my processor (Denon 3600) can only handle 11 channels. I will be building two rear speakers and stands along with a pair of VBSS type subs to give 7.2.4 as my final setup.
