Dire Straits - You And Your Friend | High-End DIY Floor Speakers | Hi-Fi - YouTube
Sounds pretty sweet. No idea what that amp is.

Hi,
I find difficult to benchmark a loudspeaker from youtube and casual mic reccording. FWIT, I find the sound a little cavernous but it's maybe the room.
The design is odd. If the tweeter seems time aligned what about its diffraction with the side of the close Fostex cabinet and the top of the woofer cabinet ?

It could have been Tracy Chapman too 😀 ... it's often one of these two tracks at Focal, lol ! You can't have money for nothing...
Once I listened to the Kef Blade II, advertised by the country commercial team where they playbacked !
The chosen tracks were so ugly I tempted to climb upon one of the Blade and jump from it !

I just don't understand why people put up videos like that. I mean, what are they trying to convey?

Even more difficult to benchmark when it's played through a phone.
I made both the experiment on a laptop : sound is not so bad when it comes to judge clarity and micro dynamic. But it's better through the headphones output. It gives you of course just a feeling of the power response equilibrium only.
Anyway, both the mic recording and playing through another media is indeed futile to listen to a serious system like the guys show here on YT.

That is a very well recorded track and sounds excellent on a good HiFi - but probably not that demanding to showcase capability of a system.
If the recording was done with a higher end mic/preamp combo uncompressed, there might be some conveyance of fedility.
I'm not sure if you can even upload uncompressed audio material onto YouTube.
Under controlled conditions, you can reveal (magnify) any anomaly through recording and playing back the audio over the original speakers. Its a trick I've used for a while to evaluate the linearity of speakers in a given playback environment. I also use this method for giving mastered recordings a 'live" feel by mixing in a portion of the re-recorded LR tracks with the direct tracks.

That is a very good sound indeed, would such a video also reveal the good effects on some highly rated spike feets i read about in hifi choice?
that's a good one celef 😀 . I would like to know if a basic listener had the same rating taking the same sound on the video but with a ugly little computer loudspeaker showed in the video instead of the glossy Focal in the cigars cave 😱?
Psychoacoustic (well, psychosis-acoustic 😉 I would say)
