Nose blowing while holding it

to find answer on my curiousity, google gives many result on my search key "Nose blowing while holding it". Most of the results are coming from medical aspect. While it's a clear evidence to my brain that everytime i do this, i can hear more sparkling on treble.

It's increament is significant, (dunno how to measure it, maybe plug your meter the da brain 😀)

Everytime I go to my ear doctor and the result is always good, I got a very clean ears.

BUT WHY i hear more treble now? is it only me who experience this?

I will not do this for too many times, but if there is only a safe and better way to get same result without destroying my ear drum, I'd like to know

I do this several times a day. My ear doctor told me that as long as I don't have any pain, and I do it slowly & gently (yikes - what are we talking about here again?), it's probably not a bad idea. You're basically opening up your eustachian tubes, which will have a significant effect on the acoustical properties of your auditory system.

For me it's not so much the treble that's affected but most of the midrange. In fact, since I live in an apartment, whenever I want to crank up the volume I'll do this first, since I regularly get what I'd estimate as a 4 to 6 dB increase in perceived loudness from doing it, without bothering the neighbors. 😎 Unfortunately for me, it's only temporary, and they will partially close up again after awhile.

The effect is "drastic and not subtle," as they say in the magazines. Speaking of which, this can also happen randomly on its own from time to time, which seems to me a plausible explanation for things like component "break-in" and many other subjective observations. Our ears are just not as stable or reliable a reference as many seem to think they are.

P.S. So I can sleep tonight: Check with your doctor before doing this regularly.

Yes, you're also clearing the Eustachian tubes at the same time. A sense of pressure will decrease when they are clear,
as well as the improvement in hearing. Be really careful with this. Antihistamines can help also.

I had an ear doctor come right out and suggest that my daughter do this. This was to clear the blockage, and if it is not done, the blockage can solidify and become a larger problem. She suggested doing it a lot harder than I was previously shown to do it.

This hearing improvement that i get is only temporary, maybe between 10 to 20 second. While based on google result, there also doctor opinion saying it's OK and some dont do it. But i think that we can do in a gentle and sofly blow. Medicine might also 'improve' our hearing capability for a while.

Another sensation now that i feel while blowing my nose slowly is that my eyes also receive the pressure and want to pop-up, WOW, maybe the eyes can have sharper vision 😀 I'm using glasses with 0.75 minus

i have been there, when i was a boy who lived in a village, i dont remember having any earbud but clean my ears with finger, my right ear was completely blockage by 'ear ****'. it was really bad experience and painfull, it had to be cleaned by a doctor without any pain killer 😡

Don't know if it applies to you, but if I have unequal pressure I hear more treble. Actually, it's just less bass, which can sound like more treble. Do yo think that's what's happening?
never thought of bass decrease, another session might answer it.

Aha, first they get the water too hot, then they attach a nozzle to the syringe that's bigger than your ear, and hold you up by the earlobe (you're not my mother..), oops, it won't go in, better press harder. omg. Then complain to the parents about how hard it is to work with kids when they think I'm out of earshot.

I'm always suspicious that there is something clogging up my hearing. Looking in my ears the doctors always say "No, all clear." Except one. When I asked her what she saw in my ears, she replied "Elephants".

I hadn't thought it was that bad.

Hee hee! The first time the doctor cleaned my ears this way, I was afraid I wasn't gonna die. (I was just a kid too.) Nowadays, I do it every coupla months or so with the little rubber bulb/peroxide kit from the drugstore, and it doesn't bother me at all. That first time, though... 😱 😱 😱 !!!
