Did anyone get the spec on the Octal tubes that appear to have been made in the 40s or 50s? Would be amusing if they were as good as the best NOS 6SN7 or 6V6s out there.
BTW, yes they had to pull out the Collins R390 receiver back in Desert Storm.

That Dagvin is the correct approach leave out the propaganda and just rely on the actual real-life truth .
If they are good in the engineering sense then that's what counts .

The first one is most likely the equivalent of 6P6S (6V6), not 6SN7. It has characteristic screen cooler flag. The second is one of the military UHF pentodes used in portable transmitters.
The data sheet is in Russian, but tube name is FUBARed.
The 6V6 is likely Korean-made, I haven't seen any Russian-made 6P6S with brown micanol base.

...because of good pre-selector and hard to overload RF stage. It replaced solid state receivers with up-converter at the front; convenient to manufacture, and good in laboratory conditions. Nothing to do with EMP; the urban legend about Mig-25 and 6S33S tubes I explained yesterday, few posts before.
The tube name is just Korean transliterated to Russian - it'll be 4jŭng5jib by modern Romanization. The data sheet is in Russian, but tube name is FUBARed.
There is quite rare early 50s Svetlana 6P6S with the brown base, but the base itself is made much nicer (bottom row, middle). The 6V6 is likely Korean-made, I haven't seen any Russian-made 6P6S with brown micanol base.
The thing is I've never seen 6P6S with rectangular(ish) top mica spacer - unlike the many 6V6, it's always almost round. So I'd second the "Korean-made" opinion.

Yes I would take the Collins R390 (or A) anytime over one of those fancy "singing /dancing" SS designs .
I owned quite a few USA communications tube receivers all built like tanks and gearing etc top quality -very impressed by them including Hallicrafters -2/3 RF stages - 3/4 IF stages - separate oscillator/FC -noise reduction - crystal selectivity down to under 1KHz push-pull output stages etc .
Built like 1950,s USA domestic appliances --SOLID ! ---then it all went South/downhill and so did the UK nearly brings tears to your eyes .

Kim Il Sung, The Great Leader and founder of DPRK, had set the policy of "juche", or self-reliance. Everything that the country needs, it must be able to produce itself, without relying on foreign supplies. Vacuum tubes too.
30,000 tubes don't just slip across the border unnoticed by the DPRK. And if the DPRK is involved, you don't want to touch them.![]()
I apologize for the misunderstanding, Most of my tubes are not NK. Most of them are in fact Chinese, Russian and European brands. I had 400 E88CC for example, which I sold in bulk. Most of the good stuff is already gone in fact. I am now left with mostly Chinese and Russian tubes (I have a bunch of nice stuff from these countries) as well as some leftovers from the European tubes.
Well, they might have been shipped in the 1980's. In the late 1970, China withdrew its support to Albania. Albania had aging Chinese equipment and replacement parts weren't coming anymore, so they might have gone to North Korea.
But that's just speculation.
This is indeed a correct deduction. I acquired these tubes at a government auction in Albania. Albania was cozy with China up until the early 1970's after its split with the USSR.
I have quite a large of inventory (capacitors, resistors, diodes etc) all replacement parts for old radio equipment. In fact I have so much it requires a full time job to create a list of the inventory. I am interested in bulk as I am not specialized in the field. I understand this is not a marketing site, and as such will not publish anything here, but feel free to message me if you need more information. Thank you for all your help, I have learned quite a lot by this board.
What is your opinion on 6C41С? Looks like a tamed down version of 6C33C, I read somewhere some good reviews... Japan would not know about 6S33S existence, so it would have the same fortune as 4P1L, GU-50, 4P10S, and other wonderful tubes that are better for audio than 6S33S, but less popular. ...
