Norcent DP-321 mod

Scrubbed this very cheap DVD player from my brother's college roommate. The DAC is a Cirrus CS4340 that seems pretty well-respected. There's an RC4558 op-amp in what I think is the audio path. From the DAC datasheet's suggested application, there is a lot of random junk between the DAC output and the RCA jack.

Here is my idea. I have a very ultra-fine soldering tip for my Weller. Would it be a worthy experiment to drill 2 more RCA jacks on the back of this little CD player, and run a simple R-C from the R and L outputs of the DAC? I'm thinking Solen 4.7uF couplers and some nice metal film 22K resistors to ground (I have these lying around). Any thoughts? I basically did the same thing to a Playstation 1 according to Mick Feuerbacher's excellent site .

Pics to follow. I like the look of this little DVD player, and LOVE the convenience of a remote control, even if there's no display of the track number 🙂 It also plays "gapless" tracks on CD's just fine.

Pics still to follow. I did a simple little mod. Pins 15 and 12 on the Norcent's CS4340 DAC are left and right, respectively. I tapped off these pins directly into a R-C network, consisting of a 4.7uF 400V Solen coupling capacitor, with the output connected to ground with a 47K resistor. I drilled two new holes on the back for nicer RCA jacks. I also replaced the 1N4007's that feed the SMPS with UF4007's, which probably didn't do much at all. It looks nice and works perfectly fine, though. I'm still "breaking it in", and will post if something insane happens.
