I'm not trying to design a speaker from scratch, so I don't need a box simulator. I am trying to characterize existing speakers. Things like
* impedance
* distortion, and distortion vs spl
* impulse and frequency response, on and off axis
I have some experience with Room Eq Wizard - should I stick with that or try something else?
PS I was hoping to find a sticky that lists all the different measurement and design software out there and their pros/cons. Also I did try to search through existing threads but got overwhelmed and also new things come out all the time so I thought I'd ask again. Maybe there should be a sticky on this though - what do you think?

well, the "best" software is a problem or very expensive - ymmv
on the free side:
for me (and many) useful is : arta
and speaking just for me, also : Holm
but anyway, i want to make my own...if i have time and motivation..i will.
until now i use Holm.
and REW i tried, but -for me- its to much focused on room and overall response. to test just a speaker...i didnt like it.

REW is fine!
Learn to master that full out - then you can consider other options.
Measurement isn't immediately easy - interpreting the result is really hard.

iOS apps would be really useful too.
Similar vane, but trying to analyse materials and their damping factors. Unsure where to start. Will FFT show this?
