Hi-
I got these ( Atlas Sound - FC104 ) speakers today. I am wanting to use this amp ( Amazon.com: LP-2020A+ Lepai Tripath Class-T Hi-Fi Audio Mini Amplifier with Power Supply: Electronics ) Will these work together? Also, im making a portable boombox so i am wanting to use a 12v lead acid battery to power everything. How will i hook the battery up to the amp to power the speakers? Also Will a plywood encasement work fine to hold the speakers? Sorry if these answers are already on here, Im a noobie and trying to learn. 🙂
Thank you in advance-

Well, the answers are probably somewhere on here and it is a large site that has been going on for a long time.

You do need to search and read and learn.

Some members have been members for years before they ask a question because they feel that they need to learn a few (or many) things to be able to ask the right questions.

The speaker you have selected is considered a "full range" so you might start in the Full Range section in the Speaker section.

I have seen threads that reference or show boombox builds...some are amazing.

The speaker you selected:
Are the parameters available to use in an enclosure design?
Do you have any programs for speaker box design?

The amplifier you have suggested is 20W. It might not be a good match for a 10W speaker that might be in a situation that someone "cranks it up" and then you need new speakers. Something to consider.

Have fun

Go for it Solly. Amp don't make no 20 watts. How about a hard side little suitcase on wheels from the thrift store enclosure. Paste it up w/ skate shop and metal band stickers. Look cooler than some doofus brown box for sure. Can use a rechargeable car jump starter thing for power - lots of things could work. Just don't put too much volts into it - fresh car battery got 14.5v, maybe too much.

Anyway, go for it. Post us a pic of the party!

Yes those will work together. The are quite efficient, which should work well with this sort of amp. Also, if I read the datasheet right, they have a built in transformer and you could use that to tweak the output.

As for 14.5V, these amps are not designed for more than 13.5V because they are missing 4 diodes for higher voltage operation.
