Non Remastered Beatles collection

Someone here said they thought that the Beatles "sucked to the highest degree." The Washington Post published an editorial/article right around the time of the release of the Peter Jackson version of Let It Be, that made a good case for saying that we baby boomers and the media in general were too obsessed with the Beatles in 2022. But, in the course of making the argument, the writer said that the Beatles were "overrated" (and that's a quote). I later tried to find the article online at the WPost (I subscribe so I have unlimited access), and could not find it, even after searching under the writer'w name. I think it must have been a case of censorship; I'm not sure I liked the deep sixing of the article. After all, it did present a well-argued point of view (one that I happen to disagree with) even if it did make one outrageous statement.

I was watching the George H. Tribute concert again the other day, on PBS, I enjoyed it one more time.

I remember an interview with Gordon Lightfoot, saying many times, he put out a new record and the Beatles would release their new stuff shortly after, too deflate his new release.

Yes, in this day of ubiquitous information, censorship abounds! There are past programs I've tried to bring up to no avail. It's always a mere handful of people in control but that's a forbidden topic.

Well, a Beatles number got played last night on the Radio! "Money (That's what I want)". Very good.

John Lennon on vocal. The Early Beatles were largely a cover Band. That one is Chuck Berry.

I wouldn't take a Beatles album to the proverbial Desert Island. Perhaps Bowie and The Beach Boys have aged better.

Recovering from Sir Mick on the Rock show. Mick was interesting, but Guns'n'Roses had me reaching for cotton wool earplugs..

Switched to Classic FM. A treat there. Alexander Tharaud strips back Good Vibrations to the basic structure:

Of course it is better with the singing. As in Sloop John B. Genius, that Brian Wilson.

It's worth listening to the un-official live Star Club recordings from 1962. The Beatles didn't like them, fought to stop their release and the sound quality varies from fair to sh----house, but there's some great material if you can listen through the mud and some occasional sloppy playing. There's a version of Chuck Berry's "Talkin' Bout You" which is absolutely on fire and more punk than the Sex Pistols. There's banter with drunk Germans, plenty of bum notes, jokes, John swearing and Ringo bashing hell out of the drums.

Love it.
